Wow I don’t know why I am only now reading your newsletter but - I had a very weird experience recently watching Benny lava and some other random telugu campy-ass music videos with a group of mostly white friends and I had Feelings about it, some of which you have put very eloquent words to!! Thank u!!!

My heart feels so full reading this piece! I wonder if this sense of self-acceptance is an age thing? or a pandemic thing? it must be a universal experience, but it's so easy to feel alone in it, especially as a third culture kid growing up trying to fit in with what's "cool" and white and American. Love this essay so much!!

I feel like it's an age thing, but for me the pandemic accelerated it b/c I was at home so much and was forced to confront many parts of my past. Definitely feels like a universal experience!! Appreciate the kind words Cassia <3

Loved your topic, Chuckry! So glad to read about your experiences and you finding your way to assert who you are and what you like. Good for you! You enjoyed Tamil music not only because your dad and I enjoyed it, but because it was really good music and you had a good ear for it:) Embrace yourself, young man! Very original, authentic, and inspiring piece.
