Hi everyone! I hope you’re managing well. Hope you like this week’s thread—I wanted it to encourage some creativity. Please attack this prompt with as much neural wackiness as you can muster.
If you could make a movie about two foods that fall in love, what foods would you pick? What would the story look like?
All snacks, ingredients, spices, and exotic meats are welcome; any flavor of romance, from your classic Nicholas Sparks tearjerker to your good ol’ Kevin James guffaw-inducers. Let the story unfold!
I like your question:) I love mint chocolate ice cream. I can imagine cool green mint herb walking around and meeting dark chocoate. And how they become friends. And then they both decide to help out bland ice cream!!
Mint starts off as a cocky herb. He's consumed with the popularity of his own flavor. He walks around unnecessarily wearing sunglasses and smirking at strangers. Dark chocolate is sort of a lone wolf--she is healthy but her bitterness can drive people away. But somehow, they get along because D.C. tells Mint the blunt truth, which Mint doesn't like at first but ultimately respects.
Together, they decide to save their town from the eruption of Mt. Icecream. The only way to do this is for them to jump into the volcano so that their flavors fuse with the volcano's insides. It's a sacrifice they're willing to make, and they end up living on forever, their united flavor cooling down the volcano into a beautiful, green, chocolate-chipped, ice-capped mountain, which future generations of townspeople hike to taste its delicious flavor.
I want a spicy story on the origin of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Who put those two together in the first place, and why? And when did peanut butter start having affairs with other flavors of jelly? It'd be a lil bit scandalous 🤭
I'll tell you how it all went down. In the early 1310s, a peanut rolled off the back of a buggy and into the lap of a servant of a nearby castle. The servant felt blessed to have had food granted to her when she least expected it. She rushed towards the vineyards, where she worked as a grape squisher, and she tossed the peanut into the basket of grapes. Unfortunately, the sun was high and it was the middle of summer and all of England was a-cookin'. In the heat, the peanut completely dissolved into peanut butter and the grapes boiled into jelly.
When the Lord and Lady of the castle tried the wine years later, they fell in love with the taste. They began pouring it on their bread and lettuce and eating it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They sold the mixture to fellow Lords and Ladies from nearby villages. They brought the brilliant servant woman to their court and asked her, "This concoction is brilliant. What is your name?" The woman was humble and did not expect this; she squished grapes merely because it was her job. She smiled and said, "Smuckers. Smuckers P. Jif."
Oh I also can imagine a story where plain dosa feels left out and sad. And spicy potato masala comes to its rescue and the rest is history.
