Hey guys! I’m trying something new today. In addition to my weekly newsletter posts (the most recent of which involved my unexpectedly procedural move out of Seattle), I’ll be sharing some spicy hypothetical scenarios on Fridays that I need your help assessing. Your input is crucial for the good of the planet and my conscience (which scientists have technically not yet proven are different).
Let’s see how this goes, eh?
I need your help figuring something out. It’s very important.
When I around three, my mom made a special kind of dosa for dinner called pesarattu. It was made with a special kind of bitter green lentil and is allegedly much healthier than a normal dosa.
But it tasted like a wet towel. It couldn't live up to the expectations of a glorious normal brown dosa (if you haven't had a dosa…get your life together). I thus refused to eat it, so my mom issued an ultimatum: “If you don’t eat this, then I’m going to give you a timeout!”
My barely-developed brain whirred as I weighed the pros and cons. Finally, I declared (in my mother tongue for extra audacity), “I’ll take the timeout, Amma!” before happily scampering up to my room for the next hour.
My mother shakes her head whenever she tells me this story (she’s told me at least 10 times). “You were so matter-of-fact! You didn’t even give me the satisfaction of punishing you!” she groans. Clearly, this incident has weighed on her identity as a mother.
Now I need to ask you guys a question: was I right to take the timeout instead of eating vile “healthy” food? Or was that a cheap move befitting of a common scoundrel? Or as Reddit might ask, “Am I the a**hole?”
What would you have done in that scenario? What foods would you have gladly taken a timeout for to avoid eating? What does the color green represent in this passage?

I want to hear your unshackled thoughts! Your honest opinions! Your secret judgments! Your relatable experiences! Your unapologetic B.S.!
It should be noted that now, as a 24-year-old man witha wiser perspective and a touchier digestion, I love pesarattu. The universe works in mysterious ways, I suppose.
that was a cheap move dude. also my mom made one of those lentils dosas for me for lunch last week and it was delicious. you should time travel back to that day and genetically modify your taste buds to appreciated that healthy, savory good good.
You were not only right, but your “barely developed” brain actually made a very mature decision. You weighed the pros and cons and decided not eating was fine with you and you were content with your own alone time, showing your comfort with your own self AND your inability to get flustered. Also prob saved yourself some calories, very keto of you.
you were absolutely in the right. fight the power
That's what I'm saying! You oughta tell user "Rishin Doshi" below and give him a real good one

The truth hurts sometimes...but maybe you're right. To the time machine it is 😔
